Role of Vitamin C and Vitamin E in Health and Disease
نویسنده
چکیده
Vitamin C has antioxidant property. It is the component of plasma and extracellular fluids and so can control lipid peroxidation of cellular membranes, thus maintaining the redox integrity of cells. Vitamin C along with Zinc enhances the immunity of the body. It has therapeutic potential against neurodegenerative disease like Alzheimer’s disease. It has effects on increasing incidence of respiratory infection caused by heavy physical stress. Deficiency of Vitamin C can lead to scurvy. Vitamin E, being an anti-inflammatory agent provides skin photo protective and anti photo aging properties .α -tocopherol is a Vitamin E has beneficial effects with regard to cardiovascular disease .Vitamin E protects PUFAs against oxidative damage. Vitamin E and C supplements protect against vascular dementia and improve the cognitive function in late life. A combination of α-tocopherol (Vitamin E) and Vitamin C reduces the histologic inflammation and fibrosis.

Effect of Vitamin Supplementation on Serum Oxidized Low-Density Lipoprotein Levels in Male Subjects with Cardiovascular Disease Risk Factors
Objective(s) Oxidized low-density lipoproteins (ox-LDLs) appear to play a significant role in atherogenesis. In fact, circulating ox-LDL concentrations have been recognized as a risk factor for cardiovascular disease (CVD). The main objectives of this study were to assess the effects of antioxidant vitamins on ox-LDL as a biomarker of CVD in male subjects with CVD risk factors. Materials and ...
متن کاملVitamin E therapy prevents the accumulation of congophilic amyloid plaques and neurofibrillary tangles in the hippocampus in a rat model of Alzheimer’s disease
Objective(s): Vitamin E may have beneficial effects on oxidative stress and Aβ-associated reactive oxygen species production in Alzheimer’s disease. But, the exact role of vitamin E as a treatment for Alzheimer’s disease pathogenesis still needs to be studied. Hence, we examined the therapeutic effects of vitamin E on the density of congophilic amyloid plaques and neur...

Background and Aim: Breast cancer is epidemiological and most important cause of death in women. Oxidative stress plays an important role in this disease. Antioxidants such as some vitamins has attracted the attention of scientists to deal with oxidative stress. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of vitamin supplements in reducing oxidative stress in breast cancer. Materials a...
متن کاملEffects of Vitamin E and Volatile Oils on the Susceptibility of Low-Density Lipoprotein to Oxidative Modification
Antioxidant consumption has been reported to be inversely associated with the incidence of coronary artery disease. To clarify the possible role of vitamin E and volatile oils in the prevention of atherosclerosis, the effects of these compounds on the susceptibility of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) to oxidative modification were investigated. In this study, vitamin E and seven volatile oils “an...
